![]() Holding A all the time would be majorly inconvenient considering how many other buttons you need to be able to press at any one time. Most games where you drive a vehicle use either the A button or RT to accelerate. Now I don’t know about you but pressing ⬆ to accelerate feels completely bizarre to me, about the only game I can think of with that control scheme is Sonc-R on the Sega Saturn. If you use the Left-stick for movement in Relative mode it means that you have to press ⬆ to accelerate regardless of the vehicles orientation. ![]() It feels really strange and makes this method pretty counter intuitive. If you use the Left-stick for movement in Screen Absolute mode then it’s possible for the rotation of the mech to get out of sync with the position of the joystick due to the fact that some mechs have very slow rotation speeds. You may be asking why on earth anyone would want to use the shoulder buttons to accelerate and reverse instead of the D-pad/Left Stick. R-Stick Click = Toggle gyro aiming on/off (mapped using steam controller config)Īlternative movement for A-Gravs (screen absolute mode): R-Stick / Gyro = Aim (mapped using steam controller config) RT + LT = Crouch (mapped using steam controller config) Also I’m using the Xbox face button naming convention here which A = bottom, B = right, X = left, Y = top.ī (right) / RB = Stomp / Bull-Rush / Belly Dive I’m using an 8bitdo sn30 pro+ which is a knock-off Switch controller with symmetrical analogue sticks (like a Dual Shock). Use whatever control scheme you find most comfortable, the game is incredible however you choose to play it!įor this setup you’re going to need a controller with built in Gyro: either a Dual Shock, Dual Sense, or Switch Pro Controller. I’m not trying to criticise the default gamepad controls, or gamepad controls in general, I just found this setup really fun to use so I thought I’d share it. I’ve played about 50h so far, 25h with KB&M and 25h on gamepad (with the custom mapping listed below) so I've got a pretty good feel for the game using various control methods at this point. ![]() Also I’m playing on a laptop and I don’t even have a desk, so KB&M is nowhere near as comfortable as a Gamepad for my setup (or lack of a setup I guess). ![]() I grew up playing console so using KB&M to play games is a bit like eating with chopsticks for me. After much tinkering I’ve finally found a way to play Brigador on a Gamepad that feels pretty intuitive to me, and translates most of the subtleties of the Mouse and Keyboard controls the game was built around. ![]()
